Deflated Balls - That's Funny

As the football season is quickly coming to an end, I wanted to make sure I had a chance to sound off on all things NFL before we are officially in the off season.  It seems to me this year has been inundated with controversy and stupidity.  So much has been very serious, as it should be - domestic violence, child abuse, alcoholism, cheating, cover ups, etc.  I'm sure the list could go on and on.  It seems that this has been a less than stellar year for the NFL.

While the issue of cheating is a quite serious one, you HAVE to admit, the New England Patriots and their deflated balls have given us much to giggle and snicker about.  Bill Belichick made a point of saying FOOTballs, because even as a 62 year old man, he was squeamish about just saying BALLS!

One of my favorite shows is Mike & Mike on ESPN2 every morning.  They are fantastic sports commentators, but they are the BEST at never growing up when they don't have to.  Mike Greenberg "Greeny" even managed to have people tweet their thoughts about the deflated balls using the hash tag #shrinkage!!  It was the #1 trending hash tag in the US for 2 days!  It's funny.

What isn't funny is the fact that I cannot bring myself to cheer for either team in the Super Bowl.  Of course I'm disappointed in the Broncos, but that happens quite often.  But never in my 45 years of watching football, and I have watched a TON of it, do I recall not wanting either team to win.  It's almost not worth watching because I am rooting against both teams.  Normally my tie breaker is to pull for the team representing the AFC.  However, with the latest antics of the Pats along with my distaste for the Hoodie and the butt-chin - I just can't bring myself to do it.  That leaves Seattle, and well, frankly, after the butt whoopin they gave my beloved Broncos last year, I just can't like them more than the Patriots.  It's a Super Bowl disaster!

So, as Super Bowl Sunday descends upon me in less than 2 days, I have made a decision.  I will watch the game, of course, and I will simply not cheer for anyone.  Why would I still participate in this yearly ritual?  Because I love football of course - and because I cannot give up the Super Bowl food extravaganza that comes along with it.  And of course, the commercials and the half-time show.  There is so much more to this championship than who is going to win, I must not punish myself for the misdeeds of these teams.

Finally, I am going into this off season with a sense of peace that all is right in Broncos Country.  John Elway runs the team, Gary Kubiak is the coach, Rick Dennison is the OC, and now Wade Phillips is the DC.  So long as Peyton returns, this will be the perfect start to a new season and new chapter in Denver.  It is reminiscent of times long ago, and I couldn't be happier.

Why Do I Do This

Happy Playoff Championship Sunday!  I wanted to take a moment before the football games kick off to write a little something down.  Do you ever stop and ask yourself Why you do what you do?  Whether it's big or small, we all have a why.

Why do I love football and more specifically, the Denver Broncos?  I grew up around it.  My parents are and have been Broncos fans my entire life.  Football is a great escape, an opportunity to be swept away by the excitement of competition and fandom.  Nothing earth changing or life changing goes with this why.  It just is what it is.

One day I was approached by a close and trusted friend who had a business opportunity.  You know those people, the ones who have the next great thing.  I have many friends who work in the Direct Sales/MLM business so this happens to me a lot.  I'm a good friend, so I always listen politely but in the end, I say no thanks.  Direct Sales is a huge industry, but selling people the next diet pill, jewelry, make up, or other things like that is just not my thing.

So, when my friend Mike approached me, AGAIN, about something new, I did what I always do.  I listened.  Yet this time, I was actually curious to know a bit more.  I did a ton of Google searches, reading, and watching YouTube videos about this new company.  And as much as I wanted to say NO like I always do, I just couldn't.  It was that compelling to me.

As my blog name says, I am passionate about 3 things...Food, Family, and Football.  This business I have ventured into encompasses two of the three.  Food and Family. It is a new food company who is making it their mission to nourish the world.  Sounds corny, right?  I thought so too.  But after listening to the founders of this company, very very successful people with more money than God, and hearing their WHY, the reason they are doing this, I couldn't say no.  The most renowned nutritionists, scientists, and businessmen have come together to create a food product line of REAL FOOD that will provide ALL 43 ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS that we need daily.  Cool, right?

I know, you're thinking, people are already doing things like this with supplements, diet shakes, etc.  But this is truly different.  This is stuff you make meals with, stuff you already buy at the grocery store like oatmeal, Alfredo sauce, soup, pudding....stuff like that.  The only difference is that these products will actually be good for you.  Pretty cool right?

So WHY did I decide this was something I couldn't say no to?  The reason is simple, my family.  More specifically, my son Zack.  He is 6 years old and autistic.  Why does that matter?  Well, here's the thing with many autistic kids....they do NOT eat well.  They have issues with texture, flavor, routine, new things, etc.  This can make nutrition a nightmare.  My son eats about 15 different foods.  NO VEGGIES, hardly any fruit, and very few proteins.  This kid lives on macaroni & cheese, chicken nuggets, and pepperoni pizza, as long as the pepperonis are round.  Now, I can make these same foods but they will actually provide him with EVERY SINGLE NUTRIENT the World Health Organization says he needs.  Add to that the research in autism suggests diet has a tremendous effect on behavior and temperament in autistic children.

So, in my world, this is the Holiest of Holys...this is the answer to a prayer.  And did I mention the best part, it taste SO FREAKING GOOD.  It's really hard for me to contain my excitement about this.  I mean, C'Mon Man, I can eat delicious pizza and call it healthy?  Who does that?   I feel like I've gone back in time and my buddy is Bill Gates and he just said to me "I have this idea for computers, do you want to be my partner?"  That's the opportunity I have right now with Yevo.

Anyway, hopefully this is my last semi-serious blog for a few weeks.  In the meantime, if you love your kids, your family, yourself and want to know more about Yevo, check out my website www.bit.ly/YevoLeap and see if you are as excited as I am.

This is me (as Bill Gates) asking, do you want in?

Football - I can't breathe

I don't know how many people truly love football as much as I do.  Well, to be fair, probably quite a few, but most are NOT women.  I have many male friends due in part to my absolute obsession with football, especially the Denver Broncos.  My female friends do not share this love.  Oh sure, they say they love the Broncos, post on Facebook prior to and right after a game, they have all the cutsie Bronco outfits, but its all a show.  Ask them about the "Drive" and you get a blank stare.  Ask them about quarterbacks outside of Elway or Manning - they've got nothing.  No offense to them, I applaud their fandom.  I just simply wasn't raised that way.

My parents became season ticket holders in the 70's...WAY WAY before Elway.  I grew up watching the Broncos and learning about game day rituals when we were on the road.  My mom has some of the coolest Bronco bling EVER!  This was not easy to do back before the NFL actively started seeking a larger female base.  I remember our first Super Bowl loss to the Cowboys and I remember literally crying when we finally won against Green Bay.  Outside of the birth of my children, I think that was truly the happiest day of my life.  I love them that much!  My brother and sister share this same love so I know I am a product of my childhood.

My love of football doesn't end there.  I watch every Sunday, Monday and Thursday night game as well.  I have teams I love and hate.  I know who coaches where and my twitter account is primarily used to keep up on all the happenings in the NFL.  I also watch a ton of college football.  If its a good game, I'm watching.  It's very rare that I watch without rooting for a specific team.  I have favorites and I have those teams I absolutely despise.  College football is exciting because most of those kids know they will never make it to the NFL so they play with heart.

Now that the first ever College Football Championship is over and the NFL playoffs are slowly creeping to an end, I know that I am about to enter into the football jitters.  It's that time of year when you realize there is a dead zone in football.  I hate it.  You get a small reprieve when the draft comes around but otherwise its just a desert of nothingness for a few months.

In the meantime, I am closely watching the coaches carousel to see who will end up where.  Most importantly is Denver.  After the shock of John Fox being let go, my mind immediately went to the impossible dream.  Could we possibly land Gary Kubiak as the new head coach?!  Nothing would be sweeter than to bring that man home to Colorado and reunite him with his team.  My fingers, toes, arms and legs are crossed hoping beyond hope that this will happen.  See, beyond my belief that he is a great coach, lies my loyalty to anyone who has worn the Denver Broncos uniform.  So my mantra for the week is "Bring Kubiak Home"!

So, as I wait not so patiently for the decision to be made, I will immerse myself in the final few weeks of the NFL playoffs.  We will make all of our favorite football food and eat it as if it will be our last meals.  Somehow football food only tastes AMAZING during football season so we must overindulge now so we can survive the off season.  It's all connected - as I like to say.  Football, food, and family!

Until next time!

Wow - My Very First Blog

So it has come to my attention that EVERYONE blogs these days.  I mean really? everyone? Well, always behind the times, I figured, hey why not.  I have a ton of opinions and thoughts.  I share them all the time with my friends, family, neighbors, the cashier at the grocery store...Anyway, you get the idea.  So I figure, why not, I'll give this a try.  Hopefully it will be helpful if not just entertaining.

When I was trying to name my blog, much like naming my 5 kids, I immediately drew a blank.  How do you name a blog?  Do you tie it to your business, your family, what you think you might write about?  I mean, wow...the pressure.  Eventually I came up with Food, Family, Football.  The 3 F's of my CRAZY life.  This should surely provide many blog topics for years to come!

Let's start with Food - I absolutely love food.  I like lots of different kinds of food.  Anything from a bratwurst in front of the hardware store to the amazing $100 dinner my husband and I shared at a very ritzy restaurant.  One thing I don't like about food is when I'm supposed to eat more healthy.  Like Kale - have you actually eaten that stuff.  It's so bitter.  It tastes like you pulled some weeds from your backyard, threw it on a plate and called it a meal.  There are a slew of "healthy" foods I don't like.  Fortunately for my palate, I don't force myself to eat them.  Of course, that means I should take vitamins to make up for it right?  Yeah, I "forget" to do that all the time.  They are HUGE, some have an after taste, and they usually mess up my insides for a few days.  You know, nothing is quite on schedule?

I am excited that I may have finally discovered a solution to that problem.  I am working with a company that makes real food - the stuff that tastes good so its probably bad for you.  But this food is actually really GOOD for you.  It actually eliminates the kale - thank goodness- and the vitamins - YAY me!  Believe me, my taste buds will be the true test of how awesome their products are- no fooling my mouth.  Keep your fingers crossed for them!

So wish me luck on this new adventure - the BLOG!  Hopefully you will enjoy what I have to say.  If you want to check out my business go to:  www.JustDoYevo.com or go to my Facebook page at www.facebook/YevoGeneration

Chow for now!
